Langtang Gosiankunda Trek

 

Langtang–Gosaikunda Trekking is also a popular trekking region in Langtang Valley of northern Nepal. On this trek you will encounter many beautiful mountains and the greeneries as well. During the spring season you can see a lot of rhododendron flower blooming everywhere in the mixed scenic harmony of pine trees. The Langtang Lirung (7245m) is the highlight of the trek including Ganesh Himalaya Range and many more. The holy Gosaikunda lake at an altitude of 4380m adds more beauty to this trek. The religious people come to the lake to take a holy bath. There are also some old monasteries on the trekking route.

 

Day 1:  Arrival Kathmandu 1350m and Transfer to Hotel

Day 2: City-Sightseeing-Tour of Historical places: Swayambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Boudhanath, Pashupatinath:

Day 3: Drive Syabrubesi (about 1500m) about 8 hrs drive

Day 4: Trek from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2400m): about 6 hours

Day 5: Trek to Langtang Village or Mundu (about 3500m) 6-7 hours

Day 6: Langtang Village or Mundu to Kyangjin Gompa (about 3800m): 2-3 hours

Day 7: Day Trip to Tsergo Ri 4985m (about 7 hrs.) or Kyanjin Peak 4500m Camp (about 4 hrs.)

Day 8: Trek back to Lama Hotel or Rimche 2400m (about 7 hrs.)

Day 9: Trek Thulo Syabru Village 2200m (5-6 hrs.)

Day 10: Trek to Sing Gompa 3200m (about 5 hrs.)

Day 11: Trek to Laurebina 3900m (about 3 hrs.)

Day 12: Trek to Gosaikunda 4300m (about 3.5 hrs.

Day 13: Trek back to Sing Gompa 3200m (about 5 hrs.)

Day 14: Trek to Dhunche 2000m (about 4 hours)

Day 15: Drive back to Kathmandu (about 7 hours)

Day 16: Final Departure to the International Airport

Day 1:  Arrival Kathmandu 1350m and Transfer to Hotel

On arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be received by our representative and you will be transferred to the hotel in Kathmandu. According to your arrival time, you may have the time to walk around or enjoy your free time on your own.

 

Day 2: City-Sightseeing-Tour of Historical places: Swayambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Boudhanath, Pashupatinath:

On this day right after the breakfast, you will start your great full-day time to visit the historical world cultural heritage sites of Nepal. In the first half of the day, you will visit the holy Buddhist site on the hilltop of the western part of Kathmandu, where there will be many rhesus monkeys waiting for you. But be careful...! Sometimes they can be aggressive to destroy or grab your belongings. There you can see a large decorated massive Stupa along with many other temples. This hilltop is also a nice viewpoint for the whole Kathmandu Valley and the Himalayas seen on the northern part of Kathmandu. After you finish the sightseeing tour of Swayambhunath, you will proceed to the Kathmandu Durbar Square, which is also known as Kathmandu City. There is an old Palace built in the 17th century. Around the palace, there are many temples of Kali, Shiva, Vishnu, Kumari (the living Goddess), Krishna, Ganesha and many more. They are made of bricks and Sal wood. After the visit, you can have free time for lunch break.

On the second half, you will be taken to the holiest Hindu Temple of the World, called Pashupatinath known as the master of the animal world. The big temple with golden roof and silver-plated wall on the ground floor is only accessible for the Hindus. There are many other temples, mainly dedicated to Lord Shiva and also some others around the big temple premises. The most interesting thing for the foreigners is the open cremating site at bank of the holy Bagmati River, where mostly the Hindu dead bodies are brought.

Finally, you have the chance to visit the biggest Stupa of Nepal, named Bodhnath in the northern part of Kathmandu, which was constructed in the 5th Century AD. Thousands of Tibetan Buddhist refugees live around the stupa and in the morning and especially in the evening they come to circumambulate and pay homage to the Lord Buddha. They also light the butter lamps around the stupa. The atmosphere is really gorgeous.

 

Day 3: Drive Syabrubesi (about 1500m) about 8 hrs drive

Early morning after breakfast we start for by bus or jeep according to the size of the group to Syabrubesi, the village which is either a starting or end point for Langtang valley Trek. Passing through several crisscrosses and beautiful bends with the view of various mountains like Manaslu, Annapurna and Ganesh Himal and diversified landscapes, you will reach in 8 hours drive the destination. You will stay overnight here in a guest house in Syabrubesi.

Day 4: Trek from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2400m): about 6 hours

Your first day trek begins today from here to Lama Hotel. It goes gradually upwards along the Langtang River some two times before you reach the destination for tonight. The greeneries and high cliffs are very interesting. You can have the chance to see the hives of the wild bees hanging down the overhanging rocks along with the languor monkeys on the way. Overnight stay in a lodge in Lama Hotel.

Day 5: Trek to Langtang Village or Mundu (about 3500m) 6-7 hours

We continue our trek further ascending gradually viewing the mountains and landscapes with some small waterfalls. You will encounter the beautiful green meadows like Ghoda Tabela etc. viewing the Langtang range and other mountains. You can see yak and Himalayan goats on the way grazing on the pastures. According to your walking speed and interests you can stay toningt either in Langtang Village or in Mundu Village little ahead of Langtang Village closer to Kyangin Gompa.

Day 6: Langtang Village or Mundu to Kyangjin Gompa (about 3800m): 2-3 hours

Today you must not rush for the destination of tonight, because it is not so far. But if you start not so late, you can have chance to visit the glacier of Langtang Himalaya Range going via old Kyanjin Gompa after your lunch. It will be nice also for your acclimatization for tonight’s sleep. We suggest you to drink a lot of water and have enough rest.   On the way you will pass through the holy Mani-walls.

Day 7: Day Trip to Tsergo Ri 4985m (about 7 hrs.) or Kyanjin Peak 4500m Camp (about 4 hrs.)

Today you have actually freetime in Kyanjin Gompa area. But we suggest you to enjoy an day excursion to Tsergo Ri situated on the north-eastern part of Kyanjin Gompa. You go about half an hour to a small river gently slope with very little ups and downs. But after the small stream you have to climb gradually up to the Tsergo Ri Peak. Which is a nice viewpoint to the surrounding mountains and a beautiful day trip. But who want to enjoy less strenuous trip to Kyanjin Peak right above the Kyanjin Gompa settlement. Or if you want to relax in and around Kyanjin area, it would be also fine. Night stay will be the same place as the day before. If you go for the long day excursion, we suggest you to take a lunch pack and hot drinks with enough drinking water for the trip.

Day 8: Trek back to Lama Hotel or Rimche 2400m (about 7 hrs.)

After the breakfast you will trek back to Lama Hotel where you were before 3 days. So the route is already well-known to you. It may take about 6 to 7 hours to reach the place.

Day 9: Trek Thulo Syabru Village 2200m (5-6 hrs.)

Today you will follow the same route you were on the way up till lunch break. Then you will go gradually up to Thulo Syabru, a traditional-looking Himalayan village with wooden houses and some traditionally carved windows and doors. After lunch break from Pairo you will have a completely new route through the jungle and weeds. Before you reach the village you will go through the farming terraces. During good weather, you will view the holy Ganesh Himalaya range and Langtang range.

Day 10: Trek to Sing Gompa 3200m (about 5 hrs.)

From Thulo Syabru you go gradually steep upwards up to some teashops about 3.5 hrs. You will have time here to take your lunch. After your lunch break it will be less steep towards Sing Gompa. There is the next cheese factory of the trekking route after Kyanjin Gompa. Rest of the day after check in the Lodge, you can enjoy your time walking around the area in the nature or having rest or taking shower.

 

Day 11: Trek to Laurebina 3900m (about 3 hrs.)

Today you have an easy walk gradually up about 2.5 to 3 hours to Laurebina Lodge Settlement. The first part of the trail hikes gently up to Lauribinayak and with its  exotic views. On the way, you will enjoy the views of the Himal Chuli 7893m, the Manaslu Range 8156m and the Ganesh Himal Range 7225m, a few ranges of Tibetan peaks and the Langtang Lirung to far away to Annapurna range can be seen. Laurabina is one of the best viewpoints of this trekking.

 

Day 12: Trek to Gosaikunda 4300m (about 3.5 hrs.

Today in the morning you may have a grand view of Ganesh Himalaya range and other mountains like Manaslu, Langtang etc. After breakfast you walk gradually up to the Laurebina Top with the view of mountains as the weather permits. Then you walk on the other mountain hang of viewing holy lakes like Saraswatikunda, Bhairabkunda and Gosaikunda. At the bank of Gosaikunda you will stay in a lodge tonight. After your lunchtime you can walk higher up to the highest pass towards Gosaikunda at an altitude of 4610m or to Surya Peak. If you want to enjoy your free time around the lake, you can also do it. On the holy day of Janaipurnima in summer, a huge number of Hindu and some local Buddhist pilgrims visit the holy lake Gosaikunda and take a holy bath to wash away the committed sins in the life.

 

Day 13: Trek back to Sing Gompa 3200m (about 5 hrs.)

Today you will walk back to Sing Gompa from Gosaikunda after breakfast bidding farewell to the holy lake Gosaikunda. You needn’t start so early today. You can start as it will get enough warm after the sunrise.

 

Day 14: Trek to Dhunche 2000m (about 4 hours)

You will walk today more than half way almost steep down through the mixed forest up to the holy river Trisuli which comes from the holy lakes you visited. After the confluence of the river with Langtang glacial river further down the bigger one is also named after the holy river Trisuli. After you reach the river the way will be easier up to Dhunche. As you reach there, you can have a lunch break. Afterwards you can plan the last evening for the farewell celebration with you crew members offering drinks and tips whatever you want.

 

Day 15: Drive back to Kathmandu (about 7 hours)

Today you will drive by your designated vehicle in the given time to Kathmandu. On the way, you will still view some mountains you have already seen during your trek and specially the village and small town settlements like on the way you drove to start your trek. Finally, you will be taken to the hotel in Kathmandu.

 

Day 16: Final Departure to the International Airport

According to your flight program, the final departure will be organized from the hotel in Kathmandu. The reporting time for passengers is generally given before 3 hours of flight time. We hope, you dear valued guests, you have enjoyed the whole trip with us in Nepal.
